Club Development Evening - Jan 19th 2011 (content now available)

posted 20 Jan 2011 02:51 by ocb admin   [ updated 12 Feb 2011 06:32 ]

We all enjoyed an excellent club development evening at the Hawkwell House Hotel (with thanks). The evening consisted of upbeat presentations from David Leighton (Club Programmes Manager), Chris Whittaker (Regional Funding Manager), Steve Kemp (Oxfordshire Sports Partnership) and our own Rupert Evans (OCB Cricket Development Manager).

  • David presented on the benefits of Community Club Development with an in depth focus on the benefits of registering for Nat West Cricket Force. David also filled in on the V-cricket opportunity for clubs; Ally Jarvis was not being able to attend due to bereavement. Why would you not register for Nat West Cricket Force? Why would you not have a volunteer co-ordinator on your management team?
  • Chris followed up with a slot on Funding opportunities and best practice.
  • Steve's key message was what the OSP could do for Clubs. He was keen to emphasise that he wants Oxon get a fair slice of the cake across all sports. If we don't use his resources for cricket then he will place his resources on other sports. He highlighted three areas where he felt his team could help  i. getting help with funding applications ii. retention of coaches iii. developing your volunteer workforce
  • Rupert's presentation was excellent, concise and purposeful. Hopefully clubs will now better understand the value of their subscription to the local board and we will in return continue to unlock opportunities. Subs are due!

All in all an excellent evening. As always we seek your feedback and ideas. Should you have any please get back to Rupert on Rupert.Evans@ecb.co.uk

Thanks to all 80 attendees for turning out, hopefully we a can get together on a more frequent basis to share best practice and not re-invent  the wheel - 'collaborate off the field, compete on it'.

Meeting collateral can be found below. This will eventually move to the Club Development section for future reference.

Regards
Chris
